Which Flute is Right For You?

Best Beginner Flute

The PassionFlute in C is our classic 6 hole flute and perfect for beginners. This is a small flute, however unlike many other small flutes, it’s easy to blow into and possesses a warmer tone far less shrill than many other instruments around this tuning. And of course, being small, it’s light, easy to hold and transport, and great for learning how to properly cover finger holes. This makes it easily the best of our range, in convenience, price and most importantly, ease to play for someone new to playing the flute. Even more than that it’s tuned to the C major scale making it much easier to translate music theory you may have learnt on other instruments onto it-or else learn from scratch with tutorials!

PassionFlute in C5

Classic Piccolo Sound
At a Fraction of the Price

This flute is a true piccolo, with the same range and tuning as a traditional Irish piccolo playing from D5 to D7. When designing this instrument, special focus was put on capturing the essence of the sound of a traditional wooden instrument, but with a slightly more mellow edge than both Irish and classical piccolos usually have. This tames the shrill edge the piccolo normally has, making our instruments far more suited to solo play or playing in small groups where classical piccolos, fifes and Irish piccolos are often far too shrill, loud and overpowering. With our Piccolo in D5, you can get a completely hand made instrument at a far more attainable price than other piccolos and with far better tuning than wooden fifes! If you’ve ever wanted to try piccolo playing, this is your chance!

PassionFlute in D5

Beautiful Mellow Sound

This flute often is the one to captivate people for its utterly beautiful sound; a rich, mellow, earthy note that sets it apart from other instruments. Its tuning places it exactly halfway between a metal concert flute and a classical piccolo, but unlike those instruments, which compromise the lowest notes in order to gain a large range, this flute focusses on making the lowest notes easy to play and full of life. Being a larger instrument than the flutes in C and D, it’s a joy to play for the mouth, and while this size can make it a harder to hold for smaller hands, it’s well worth the practice to hold it comfortably for the joy it is to play. Its ability to play in G, D and C well also makes it excellent for duets with guitar or piano and in larger groups it blends into the background as a wonderful harmony instrument.

PassionFlute in G4

Ultimate Low PassionFlute

Everything that the PassionFlute in G does, the flute in F4 has a little extra. A little larger, a little lower and even more mellow, it sits one tone below the G flute, in F! This makes it good at playing in F, Bb and C making it very valuable to those who loved the flute in G, but were either looking for something in a different key or that was even more mellow! Its extreme mellowness also makes it a very good flute for those who love sitting behind other instruments, as it helps it blend in very nicely when playing harmonies with others.
